Ren Light Pan American, b. 1990

Ren Light Pan (b. 1990, Irvine, California, USA) is a Chinese-American transgender artist whose work explores biographical themes, focusing on hybridized and transgressive cultural and gender identities. She blends traditional Chinese ink painting with contemporary techniques such as readymade or anti-gestures, deconstruction, and methods influenced by photographic, filmic, and printmaking processes. This strategic fusion creates a unique space of contentious harmony in her work. She currently lives and works in New York.

Pan’s first public exhibitions were in 2022, with solo and group shows at Queer Thoughts, New York. Her work has since been featured in solo and group exhibitions at institutions such as  Jessamine, Dallas, Texas; Asia Society Texas, Houston (Summoning Memories: Art Beyond Chinese Traditions); Martos Gallery, New York; Dairy Arts Center, Boulder, Colorado; and Shoot the Lobster, NADA Miami, Florida;  Green Family Art Foundation, Dallas, Texas.
