Expo Chicago 2026

For our inaugural presentation at EXPO Chicago, Qualia Contemporary Art presents a group of eight contemporary Chinese artists working with ink, calligraphy, and portraiture. The booth will include work by Xu Bing, Wang Dongling, Tai Xiangzhou, Wang Tiande, Zhang Yu, Chu Chu, Victoria Yau, and Huang Hairong.

Across these nine artists, our presentation surveys contemporary Chinese image-making as it migrates between neo-calligraphy, cosmological landscape, and disturbed, mixed-media surfaces–at once venerative of tradition and rebellious. 

This selection has particular resonance in Chicago, where Tai Xiangzhou and Victoria Yau are in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern's Block Museum of Art, respectively.
