Qualia Contemporary Art is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Cate White, Here to Returnity, a series of mixed media on canvas works that depict the repetitive patterns and contemporary experiences of systemic power structures within an art historical context. White’s exhibition utilizes her personal history and experiences, as well as those of her friends, and depicts them within the art historical canon, exploring the cyclical nature of oppressive systems of power such as colonialism, white supremacy, patriarchal hierarchies, and capitalism. White’s symbolically charged, yet ambiguous paintings evoke conversations and questions about the pace of progress within structures of oppression, and how they can be dismantled permanently.
