Cathy Lu & Yulia Pinkusevich: Emergence
The title for Emergence takes its inspiration from the interplay between the words “emergence” and “emergency,” referencing environmental and spiritual themes through disparate practices that unite around the concept of transformation and the symbology of ritual smoke and cleansing flame. In their two-person exhibition, Cathy Lu and Yulia Pinkusevich propose ritual as a method for exploring and reflecting ways of being in a cultural and existential context.
Through organic ceramics and numinous paintings, the Bay Area artists employ inherited forms and ancient traditions as tools for reimagining what comes next. Fire, incense, mica, ash, and charcoal become materials of transformation, holding destruction and renewal in the same gesture.
An opening reception for Emergence will be held on March 7, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00pm and the exhibition will be on view through May 2, 2026.
